The Mesmerists are a collaboration between Bill Frisell, his trio, and film maker Bill Morrison. This project combines the music of Bill Frisell with the films of Bill Morrison to create musical alchemy distilled through shards of forgotten nitrate.

The award-winning films of Bill Morrison often combine rare, degraded archival material with contemporary music.  The Great Flood, a collaboration with Bill Frisell was honored with a Smithsonian Ingenuity Award for historical scholarship.  In addition to Frisell, Morrison has worked with some of the most celebrated composers and musicians of our time, including John Adams, Gavin Bryars, Dave Douglas, Philip Glass, Michael Gordon, Kronos Quartet, Vijay Iyer, Jöhann Jöhannsson, David Lang, Steve Reich and Julia Wolfe, among many others.
